Due to the current wintry weather conditions with Black ice, snow and freezing rain face-to-face teaching is canceled in several regions of Germany. The reasons are Official warnings from the German Weather Service (DWD) from dangerous road and sidewalk conditions. This is the school authorities' response to the increased risk of accidents on school routes and in school bus traffic.

In various federal states, lessons were canceled as a precautionary measure because Slippery roads and fresh snow make the way to school unsafe. Particularly affected are regions in Lower Saxony, Hesse and Bavaria. Many schools there remain closed or only offer emergency care.

School bus services have also been suspended in parts of Lower Saxony. Pupils who still come to school are being looked after, but regular lessons are not taking place. In Bavarian regions with heavy snowfall, school authorities also decided to cancel classes in order to minimize risks.
