In Saxony-Anhalt, a wintry weather situation with Black ice and freezing wetness<\/strong> led to numerous traffic problems. Particularly in the early hours of the morning, there were traffic jams on freeways and main roads. Traffic jams, accidents and considerable obstructions<\/strong>. The German Weather Service (DWD) had previously issued an official warning about the dangerous weather conditions.<\/p>\n

Slippery roads and numerous accidents<\/h2>\n

According to the police, slippery roads led to a large number of traffic accidents, mostly with fender benders. Sections of the A2<\/strong>, A14<\/strong> as well as several federal and country roads. In some cases, lanes had to be temporarily closed to recover vehicles involved in accidents and to make the roads safe.<\/p>\n

There were also considerable delays in rush-hour traffic. Drivers needed considerably more time for their journeys, while the winter road clearance service was in constant use in many places to make the roads passable again.<\/p>\n

DWD warning of black ice and freezing rain<\/h2>\n

The DWD warned for large parts of Saxony-Anhalt of Black ice due to freezing rain and freezing wetness<\/strong>. Bridges, shady stretches of road and side roads were particularly dangerous. The authorities strongly advised this, avoid unnecessary trips<\/strong> and significantly reduce the speed.<\/p>\n
