    However, anyone using pepper spray should be aware of the wind direction and surroundings. You can quickly hit yourself in confined spaces or in a headwind. In addition, the use of pepper spray against people is only legally covered in cases of self-defense.<\/p>\n

    CS gas - the legally clear path<\/h2>\n

    CS spray is explicitly approved in Germany for self-defense against people. The effect is similar, although usually weaker than pepper spray. On the other hand, there are fewer legal uncertainties.<\/p>\n

    However, many users report that attackers are not always immediately incapacitated - especially under the influence of alcohol or drugs. CS is more of a supportive tool, not a guarantee of immediate effect.<\/p>\n

    Pocket alarm - loud instead of painful<\/h2>\n

    A pocket alarm does not incapacitate an attacker, but it does have another effect: noise. The sudden blaring of 120 decibels takes people out of the situation, draws attention and scares them off.<\/p>\n

    Such an alarm is small, light, completely legal and ideal for people who don't want to carry a spray. It does not replace an escape option, but it does attract attention - and that can be more valuable in the city than any punch.<\/p>\n

    Tactical flashlight - light as a weapon<\/h2>\n

    A flashlight sounds harmless. But modern models with 1000 lumens or more can dazzle an attacker for a short time, disorientate them and allow them to escape. They are also a useful everyday tool - whether in the event of a power cut or in a tent.<\/p>\n

    Some models are deliberately designed to be robust, with a serrated edge as a glass breaker. But be careful: these functions are legally borderline. The decisive factor remains the blinding effect - legal, practical and versatile.<\/p>\n

    Kubotan - small, inconspicuous, effective<\/h2>\n

    A kubotan is a handy impact amplifier, usually no bigger than a ballpoint pen. Carried on a key ring, it is hardly noticeable. When used correctly, it considerably increases pressure on pain points or blows.<\/p>\n

    But it requires training. Without knowledge of self-defense, it is little more than a metal pin. With training, however, it can be a silent, legal companion.<\/p>\n

    Everyday objects - underestimated helpers<\/h2>\n

    A sturdy umbrella, a bunch of keys, even a ballpoint pen can become a means of defense in an emergency. The great thing about them is that they are always with you and completely legal.<\/p>\n

    Of course, it takes practice and the right mindset to act effectively. But just knowing that you can improvise gives you confidence.<\/p>\n

    Tips for sensible use<\/h2>\n

    Self-defense equipment is only as good as its user. So here are a few basic rules:<\/p>\n
